Best Shopify SEO Apps (2026)

Looking for the best SEO app for your Shopify store? Between compressing images, writing meta descriptions with AI, fixing broken links and sorting out your sitemap, it’s hard to tell which app actually moves the needle and which just adds clutter. Shopify makes it trickier than most platforms: you can’t freely change your URL structure, the robots.txt is limited, and some fixes mean digging into Liquid. So we installed and ran the most popular SEO apps on real stores and cross-checked what we found against thousands of merchant reviews, to see what each one is genuinely worth. Here are the 15 best Shopify SEO apps in 2026:

Tapita AI SEO Optimizer, Speed

Built for Shopify
Tapita AI SEO Optimizer, Speed screenshot
5.0 · 2,545 reviews Free plan available

One-click optimize SEO & page speed for both Google and customers for better conversion and sales.

  • Full-stack audit that finds and fixes SEO and Google errors
  • One-click speed optimization and auto-redirect of broken links
  • AI SEO agent that prioritizes the highest-impact fixes
  • Smart schema, bulk image alt text and a backlink report
  • AI metadata and keyword research matched to search intent

Tapita is the one we would hand a beginner, and mostly it deserves it. The audit is thorough, the AI agent ranks fixes by impact, and the automatic image optimization did its job without us thinking about it; one merchant reports their score jumping from 45 to 96. Now the nuance from the one and two-star reviews: the anger concentrates on the paid done-for-you service (a subscription some describe as mostly telling you what is wrong), and one reviewer argues it lifts testing scores more than felt speed. Use the free tools first; be slower with the service.

Pros
  • AI agent prioritizes the highest-impact fixes
  • Speed, SEO and schema in one place
  • Excellent rating, free plan
Cons
  • Advanced features require upgrades
  • Dashboard feels dense at first

Best for: Owners who want guidance on what to fix first

What merchants say
“I have had a great experience using Tapita. It has helped me manage my website SEO quite easily and helped with quite a lot on my website”LunziArt-Nepal Buddha statues, thangkas, and handmade artworks, Hong Kong SAR

Tiny SEO Speed Image Optimizer

Built for Shopify
Tiny SEO Speed Image Optimizer screenshot
5.0 · 2,332 reviews Free to install

Shopify SEO app that helps store owners audit their store, identify and fix Speed & SEO issues, optimize pages to boost organic traffic, visibility and sales.

  • SEO audit with one-click fixes for speed and on-page issues
  • Image compression, resizing and alt text in one click
  • Lazy-load plus JS/CSS minification for faster pages
  • Broken-link detection with 404/301 redirect management
  • JSON-LD schema, HTML sitemap and IndexNow for Bing

On raw tooling, Tiny SEO might be the best value of the fifteen: compression, structured data, redirects and Search Console analytics, free to install, and one of the easiest setups we did. We have to flag the billing though: several reviewers report charges continuing after uninstall, one a full year later, and a two-star review calls the $20 tier pointless without a big image library. Great app. Read your invoice when you leave.

Pros
  • Broad speed + technical SEO coverage in one app
  • Outstanding rating at high review volume
  • Free to install, 16 languages
Cons
  • Lighter on keyword and SERP analytics
  • Usage-based costs grow with catalog size

Best for: Stores wanting speed and technical SEO in one trusted app

What merchants say
“Excellent customer support and assistance. This app is super user-friendly. Our pages have been getting indexed like crazy since we downloaded it and implemented some changes”DIA Apparel Co., United States

Avada Image & Page Speed Up

Built for Shopify
Avada Image & Page Speed Up screenshot
5.0 · 787 reviews Free plan available

Avada Image & Speed optimizer helps compress images, optimize alt text to boosts site speed and improve SEO

  • Done-for-you speed optimization by Avada's specialists
  • Core Web Vitals reporting (FCP, LCP, CLS)
  • One-click bulk image compression and resizing
  • Defer JS/CSS, preconnect and font-display tuning
  • Alt-text optimization for image SEO

Narrow but effective. Avada compressed our images and tracked Core Web Vitals from inside the app, and the done-for-you option is real. The alt-text module is thinner (even a fan asks for more templates), the free plan is tight, and one angry reviewer says optimization that used to be automatic became manual after an update. Speed and images only; pair it with a meta tool.

Pros
  • Optional done-for-you speed service
  • Real Core Web Vitals tracking
  • Free plan, strong rating
Cons
  • Speed and images focus, not full SEO
  • English-only interface

Best for: Stores whose main problem is slow pages and heavy images

What merchants say
“Tracy was very patient with me and was willing to wait until she made sure everything was running smoothly. I would like to work with her again in future. She made me calm and trust the app.”Tobmarc Home Decor & Gifts, Canada

SEO Alpin : Internal Linking

SEO Alpin : Internal Linking screenshot
Free

Optimize your store's internal linking by quickly inserting SEO links with AI and correcting broken 404 links and 301 redirection with free plan.

  • Find pages that have too few internal links
  • Surface semantically similar pages to connect, using Search Console
  • Insert internal links manually or in bulk
  • Detect and fix broken 404s with 301 redirects
  • AI-chosen, semantically relevant anchor suggestions

This one targets the lever most stores ignore: internal linking. It reads your Search Console data to surface under-linked and related pages, then inserts links in bulk with AI-picked anchors, and fixes broken 404s with 301 redirects in the same pass. It is free, and the interface is currently French-first. Skip it if your store has twenty pages; internal linking only starts paying off at catalogue scale.

Pros
  • Dedicated to internal linking done properly
  • Bulk, AI-assisted link insertion
  • Free
Cons
  • Interface currently French-first
  • Overkill for very small catalogues

Best for: Stores with many pages and a weak internal link structure

SearchPie: SEO, Speed & Schema

Built for Shopify
SearchPie: SEO, Speed & Schema screenshot
4.9 · 2,320 reviews Free plan available. Free trial available.

Try SearchPie FREE today, a Shopify SEO plugin for SEO speed, schema & more. Load faster, rank higher on Google & AI, and drive more sales from organic traffic.

  • Full JSON-LD product and FAQ schema
  • Speed booster: image compression, lazy load, CSS/JS minify
  • AEO/SEO checklist with LLM.txt and bulk AI tags
  • Auto-fix 404s with real-time indexing alerts
  • Resolve Search Console and Merchant Center warnings

SearchPie goes deep: SEO, speed, schema, an AEO checklist for AI engines, proper Merchant Center handling, and support (Felicie, Jane) that reviewers thank constantly. Two things in the one-star pile gave us pause: small stores calling it expensive for what they use, and two separate merchants reporting that their meta titles and descriptions vanished after uninstalling. That is lock-in to know about before you write hundreds of metas inside it. For Google Shopping stores, still among the strongest.

Pros
  • Broad SEO, speed and schema coverage
  • Good Search Console and Merchant Center handling
  • Free plan, very well rated
Cons
  • A lot of features to learn
  • Best value needs a paid tier

Best for: Stores wanting one suite for SEO, speed and schema

What merchants say
“This app is definitely more in depth than the others and the support like with Felicieare very proactive. Great so far”Driver Training Ltd, United Kingdom

SEOLab: All in #1 AI SEO

Built for Shopify
SEOLab: All in #1 AI SEO screenshot
4.9 · 2,181 reviews Free

Generate high-converting image alt texts, meta tags, and descriptions with a single click.

  • Track visibility across Google and AI engines like ChatGPT and Gemini
  • Optimize meta tags and alt text, add JSON-LD structured data
  • Find and bulk-redirect broken links to protect site health
  • Auto-scan for indexing, speed and content-quality issues
  • One-click AI product descriptions

SEOLab is free, tracks your visibility in ChatGPT and Gemini alongside classic SEO, and one five-star review sums up its appeal honestly: ‘this app isn’t a magic solution, you still have to put on the work’. Read the critical reviews too: ‘free’ is credit-limited, some merchants had features paused without warning or spent hours undoing automated edits, and the image optimizer once turned a store’s product backgrounds black. Novel and genuinely useful, but review every automated change before it ships.

Pros
  • AI-engine visibility tracking, not just Google
  • Free with a strong rating
  • Covers meta, schema and broken links
Cons
  • AI-visibility metrics are still early
  • Newer than some rivals

Best for: Stores optimizing for AI answer engines as well as Google

What merchants say
“I have just about started using SEOLab and having a great experience using it on Shopify. The tool itself is intuitive and genuinely helpful for identifying SEO gaps and improving on-page optimization without feeling overwhelming.”N3VO, India

Sherpas: Smart SEO

Sherpas: Smart SEO screenshot
4.9 · 916 reviews Free plan available. Free trial available.

With Smart SEO, you can improve the SEO of your store and thus rank higher in SERPs. Smart SEO provides AI tools and automation to tackle important...

  • AI-generated meta tags and image alt tags
  • Image and page-speed optimization for better rankings
  • JSON-LD structured data for richer Google results
  • Automatic detection and fixing of broken links
  • Backlink reporting to guide link-building

Sherpas mostly stayed out of our way, which is the point: meta tags, alt text and schema on autopilot, customers who renew for four and five years, Radoslav in support getting name-checked. The complaint list is short but real: one reviewer says the broken-links module never worked for them, another lost target keywords in an update. Set it, forget it, spot-check it.

Pros
  • Set-and-forget automation for meta, alt and schema
  • Includes a backlink report
  • Mature, well-rated, 20 languages
Cons
  • Less suited to manual page-by-page tuning
  • Best features gated to paid tiers

Best for: Stores that want core SEO automated with little effort

What merchants say
“This is a great App, very easy to install, easily integrates with Shopify eCommerce store. It tremendously improves SEO for website ranking.”Let's Fibre Technologies, South Africa

SEO Alpin : Collection Reviews

SEO Alpin : Collection Reviews screenshot
5.0 Free

We help you automatically add review stars to Shopify collection pages with JSON-LD and a customizable Liquid block to build trust and boost CTR.

  • Add AggregateRating and AggregateOffer schema to collection pages
  • Ratings update automatically from the collection's products
  • Customizable Liquid review-rating block
  • Collection-level or site-wide display modes
  • Works with leading review apps

Single-purpose and unapologetic about it: review stars on collection pages, something most review apps only manage for product pages. In our test it pulled ratings from the review app already on the store with no conflict. More stars in the search results tends to mean more clicks. Free, and worth a look if collection pages are where your SEO lives.

Pros
  • Review stars on collection pages, which is rare
  • Pulls ratings automatically from products
  • Free, works with existing review apps
Cons
  • Narrow, single-purpose scope
  • Affects collection pages only, not products

Best for: Stores wanting star snippets on collection pages, not just products

Show variants – Variantify

Show variants – Variantify screenshot
5.0 · 46 reviews Free plan available

Show variants as separate products on collections pages. Split variants by color, size, material or any options. Boost visibility, improve UX, drive more sales.

  • Show variants as separate products on collection, home and search pages
  • Split variants by colour, size, material or any other option
  • Drag and drop to reorder, show or hide variants per collection
  • Control hover images and variant titles for consistent browsing
  • Hide out-of-stock variants or show only discounted ones

Variantify fixes the collection-page problem Shopify will not: each colour or size shown as its own product, with drag and drop control per collection. Merchants at The James Brand and Chums describe the same relief we felt setting it up. We went digging for negative reviews to balance this entry and found none; 46 reviews is a small sample, but a clean sheet is rare. Just remember what it is: merchandising and UX, not SEO. Free plan, paid from $9.99/month.

Pros
  • Splits variants into their own collection listings
  • Per-collection controls with drag and drop
  • Free plan and a perfect 5.0 across 46 reviews
Cons
  • Merchandising and UX focus, no meta tags or schema
  • Recent app (launched July 2025), smaller track record

Best for: Stores that want every colour or size visible on collection pages

What merchants say
“The app has worked great for our store. The app functions reliably and does exactly what we need without adding unnecessary complexity.”Paddwell, Singapore

ChatGPT AI Product Description

Built for Shopify
ChatGPT AI Product Description screenshot
4.9 · 450 reviews Free plan available

Stop wasting hours writing product descriptions and SEO tags manually. With ChatGPT AI Product Descriptions, you can instantly generate optimized c...

  • Bulk-generate product descriptions, titles and SEO metadata
  • Content in 30+ languages with custom templates
  • Auto-generate content when new products are added
  • Add SEO alt text to thousands of images at once
  • Uses product images, metadata and web search for accuracy

The honest version: out of the box, the descriptions are generic. One reviewer says it bluntly (‘this type of content will not rank’), and we would not disagree until you customize the prompt and format. Do that and it turns into a workhorse; an agency runs it on five client stores, and bulk descriptions, titles and meta genuinely save hours on a big catalogue. Reaching a human in support is the other sore point reviewers raise. Content only: no speed, schema or link fixes.

Pros
  • Fast bulk content and metadata generation
  • Auto-runs on newly added products
  • Multiple AI models, 30+ output languages
Cons
  • Content-only, no technical SEO
  • App interface in English

Best for: Large catalogs needing descriptions and meta written in bulk

SEOWILL: AI SEO & AI Blog Post

Built for Shopify
SEOWILL: AI SEO & AI Blog Post screenshot
4.8 · 1,663 reviews Free plan available. Free trial available.

SEOWILL(formerly SEOAnt)-Best Shopify SEO app and AI SEO optimizer to audit store, fix issues, improve page speed, and generate SEO-optimized blogs to grow SEO.

  • SEO checker that scans issues and returns AI action plans
  • AI blog generator with keyword ideas
  • Page-speed boost via image compression and lazy loading
  • Auto-optimize product and collection pages
  • Auto JSON-LD, alt text, llms.txt and broken-link redirects

SEOWILL is the app we would supervise most closely. The guided checker teaches while it fixes, the AI blogging is serviceable, and some merchants report real traffic gains. But the one-star reviews describe real damage: a Google Merchant Center suspension within 24 hours of aggressive auto-changes, image renames that broke images and GMC listings, false 404 flags, leftover code after uninstall, and a cancellation flow merchants call difficult. Credits on the free tier run out fast too. Usable, even good, but approve every change yourself.

Pros
  • Guided, beginner-friendly action plans
  • Combines technical SEO with AI blogging
  • Free plan available
Cons
  • Blogging less rich than specialist tools
  • Frequent upsells across tiers

Best for: Beginners who want SEO fixes explained step by step

What merchants say

Bloggle: SEO Blog Builder

Bloggle: SEO Blog Builder screenshot
4.8 · 330 reviews From $19.90/month. Free trial available.

Create a blog on Shopify with Bloggle. Drag-and-drop blog app with templates, built-in SEO & product embeds. Add a blog to your store in minutes.

  • Drag-and-drop blog builder, no coding needed
  • Industry blog templates you customize quickly
  • Live SEO and UX scoring as you write
  • Ready-made blocks: table of contents, FAQ, author bio, Klaviyo
  • Embed store products and image galleries inside posts

As a writing tool, Bloggle beat everything else we tried: real drag-and-drop editing, templates and live SEO scoring while you type. Two structural gripes from the reviews are worth knowing: it shines on posts built inside Bloggle, existing Shopify blogs do not migrate cleanly, and one merchant on the Eurus theme found it heavy on page performance. No free tier, from $19.90/month. Worth it for content-first stores; overkill for an occasional post.

Pros
  • Best-in-class Shopify blogging experience
  • Live SEO feedback while you write
  • Conversion blocks like product embeds and FAQ
Cons
  • No free plan
  • Focused on blogging, not technical SEO

Best for: Stores betting on blog content to drive organic traffic

SEO King

Built for Shopify
SEO King screenshot
4.7 · 498 reviews From $9.99/month. Free trial available.

Managing seo across multiple apps wastes time and money. SEO King unifies everything into one dashboard: serp audits, image optimization, json-ld,...

  • One dashboard for alt text, meta data, titles and image quality
  • AI content writing with a fast bulk SEO editor
  • JSON-LD schema, sitemaps, llms.txt and robots.txt control
  • Keyword management with SERP tracking and search analytics
  • Auto-translate across 40+ languages

The price is the pitch: from $9.99/month for schema, content tools, analytics and 40+ languages, with Alex in support staying an hour on chat with one lost merchant. The trust file is messier: reviewers report features switched off without notice (one lost their JSON-LD schema), a disputed double yearly charge, and one even says it added promotional lines to their robots.txt. Broad and cheap, but audit what it touches.

Pros
  • Wide feature set at a low entry price
  • Built-in SERP tracking and analytics
  • 27-language interface
Cons
  • Some modules less deep than specialists
  • No free plan, trial only

Best for: Stores wanting an affordable all-in-one SEO dashboard

What merchants say

ATAI ‑ AltText.ai AI Alt Text

Built for Shopify
ATAI ‑ AltText.ai AI Alt Text screenshot
4.4 · 143 reviews Free to install

AltText.ai automatically generates image alt text using AI. Integrations for Shopify, WordPress, Contentful, Hygraph. Full developer API.

  • Auto-writes alt text for every product image as you add or edit it
  • Bulk-applies alt text across your existing catalog and blog images
  • Pulls keywords from product name, brand and description into each tag
  • Also covers metafield, collection and in-description images

We pointed AltText.ai at a big image library and let it run; one reviewer is 5,000 images into a 40,000-image catalogue with it. It writes detailed alt text at a scale no human would attempt and reaches collection and metafield images other apps skip. Quality control stays on you: critical reviews mention overlong alts, counters that do not add up and credits burning faster than expected, which explains the lowest rating here (4.4). Still the best at this one job.

Pros
  • Truly hands-off, runs on every new image
  • Reaches images other apps miss (metafields, collections)
  • Free to install
Cons
  • Single-purpose (alt text only)
  • Interface and output in English only

Best for: Large catalogs that need image alt text automated at scale

What merchants say
“Very simple to use and effective. Took seconds to set up and the alt text it created was what I was looking for.”INDO BOARD, United States

So which would we install? After testing all 15, the one we’d reach for first is SEO Alpin: Speed & Links, and what sets it apart is its AI assistant: instead of just flagging problems, it works like an SEO consultant, connecting to your store to audit your pages and carry out the fixes, AI-written meta tags, broken links, keyword cannibalization and duplicate content, rather than leaving you a long to-do list. If your priority is purely speed, Tapita and Tiny SEO are excellent free starting points; if content is your game, Bloggle earns its keep. But the right pick is whichever one solves your store’s specific problem, so use the “Best for” line on each card, install a couple of free plans, and let your own traffic be the judge.

Shopify SEO apps: quick FAQ

Do you need an SEO app for Shopify?

Not for the basics. Shopify automatically generates your sitemap.xml, robots.txt and canonical tags (Shopify Help Center). An app adds what Shopify leaves out: bulk meta editing, broken-link redirects, image compression, cannibalization detection and richer structured data.

What is the best free Shopify SEO app?

Several apps here run genuine free plans. For broad technical coverage, Tapita and Tiny SEO are the highest-rated free options; for internal linking or collection-page review stars, SEO Alpin’s apps are free too. Install two or three and compare on your own store.

Does page speed affect Shopify SEO?

Yes. Google counts page experience and Core Web Vitals among its ranking signals (Google Search Central), so speed apps like Avada and Tiny SEO (image compression, lazy-loading) have a direct SEO effect, not just a UX one.

Can installing too many SEO apps hurt my store?

It can. Overlapping apps may inject duplicate structured data or extra scripts that slow your pages, and slower pages can weigh on rankings (Google Search Central). Keep one all-rounder for technical SEO and add specialists only for real gaps.

Do Shopify stores need structured data (schema)?

Structured data lets Google show rich results such as product review stars (Google Search Central). Most Shopify themes already output product schema; apps add the FAQ, breadcrumb and collection-level rating schema themes usually miss.
